Robert Sondergaard

Robert has been working as a lighting designer for over two decades in all genres of the entertainment business. From Dance to World Class Ceremonies, Film, Television and Music; Rob brings a wealth of experience that has garnered international recognition.

In addition to lighting, Robert is a renowned production designer having served as the Director of Design for Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Paralympic Winter Games and designer for 9 Grey Cup Halftime Shows, the Opening Ceremonies for 5 Canada Games and numerous music festivals.

His gifted design capability, technical wisdom, and ability to manage and direct large crews of lighting technicians make him a highly sought after commodity in the production community.

Jason McKinnon

Jason’s career began in Australia where he worked as a lighting director for Australia’s largest TV network GTV-9. It was there he honed his skills on a variety of television shows such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire, The Price is Right, Starstruck, and a number of sporting events from Cricket to the Formula One Grand Prix. A career highlight came in 2000 when he was assigned the role of console programmer and operator for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic Games.

After moving to Vancouver in 2001, Jason joined Electric Aura to collaborate with Rob Sondergaard to design a scene in for the feature film Catwoman. His Olympic experience was repeated in 2010 when he provided lighting design for the outdoor Cauldron for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremony as well as the lighting director for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 2010 Paralympic Games.

Jason regularly consults on feature films for lighting design and for the use of video projection and media servers to create innovative effects. The evolution of new technologies has established Jason as a visionary and forerunner in the integration of lighting and video to achieve previously unobtainable results.

Jason Bolger

Jason began his professional lighting career with the Much Music Video Awards in 1997 and worked with the CHUM Television lighting department as a technician and crew chief for several live to air television special events in the years following.

He completed his BFA in Technical Theatre Production from Ryerson University and graduated with the class of 1999.

Jason accepted a full-time position in 2001 at Christie Lites Toronto where he continued to work on a wide range of projects including corporate, film, television, live music and installations. He also traveled North America extensively with concert tours such as Norah Jones, Iron Maiden, Great Big Sea, and Jann Arden.

Jason moved to Vancouver in 2006 and joined the Electric Aura team.  He specializes in lighting technology and system integration, along with lighting design, MA console operation, and pre-production visualization.  Jason also works on developing and managing new inventory products and services such as Follow Me systems and Media Servers.

Philomena Sondergaard

Philomena graduated from Queen’s University with a BA in Drama and a B.Ed in Artist in the Community. She furthered her studies in theatre at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto and The Banff Centre for the Arts.

Philomena moved to Vancouver in 1996 and has been actively involved in stage management for the dance and theatre communities. She has also had the opportunity to expand her stage management experience to include corporate and live events. She was proud to be a member of the Stage Management Team for The Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Philomena has been a member of the Electric Aura team since its inception in 2002.
